A new documentary series called “Quiet on Set,” produced by Investigation Discovery, talks about Jason Handy, a former production assistant at Nickelodeon. The series shares serious accusations against Handy, who has been found guilty of being a sex offender. Handy’s job involved showing young actors around the set. One mother, known as MJ, shared her story about her daughter Brandi, who became one of Handy’s victims.
According to MJ, Handy sent her indecent emails and wrote things like “I am a pervert, full-blown” in his own journal. The documentary reveals this disturbing behavior. Former Nickelodeon staff and child actors have also accused others, like Dan Schneider and Brian Peck, of similar misconduct. Schneider has denied the accusations, but Handy and others have been found guilty.
The documentary describes Handy’s inappropriate behavior towards young actors. MJ said that Handy sent her daughter Brandi, who was in one episode of “The Amanda Show,” a picture of himself in his underwear. MJ said the picture showed Handy “touching himself.” Handy told Brandi that he sent it because he was “thinking of her.”
MJ also received indecent messages from Handy. According to MJ, parents were not allowed on set, and Handy seemed “charming” and “charismatic.” His actions led to legal charges.
Was Jason Handy Convicted?
Handy said he was not guilty of charges involving child sexual exploitation, sending explicit emails to minors, and inappropriate acts. But the court found him guilty, and he was sentenced to six years in prison. After his release in 2009, Handy moved to North Carolina and registered as a sex offender.
In 2014, about ten years after his first arrest, Handy was arrested again in North Carolina. He was charged with breaking the rules of the sex offender registry and for inappropriate conduct with a child. Handy is now in the Federal Correctional Institution in Petersburg, Virginia, and is set to be released on August 28, 2038.
These revelations have shocked many people who grew up watching Nickelodeon shows. The documentary shows how important it is to keep kids safe on set and to protect them from harm.
